Malaria (RTS, S/AS01) Vaccine Sentinel Evaluation – By Sam Akech
Sentinel surveillance of children aged 5-48 months admitted to six selected hospitals in areas of western Kenya where MoH working with WHO will conduct phased introduction of RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine (Mosquirix®) in 2019. This sentinel surveillance will last for 3-
5 years and during this sentinel surveillance, the hospital laboratory team/management will be engaged in quality improvement for malaria testing and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) sample processing for diagnosis of meningitis.
